A Plague Tale 3 seems to be under development, as indicated by a recent job posting by developer Asobo Games.
The job description calls for a Senior Game Designer and clearly states in the requirements section that the candidate must have “played A Plague Tale Innocence or Requiem”.
After the release of A Plague Tale: Requiem in October 2022, players were excited to know what comes next in this unique single-player franchise. Similar job posts had started cropping up on job listing sites, with a similar requirement for a team member who has played both the previous titles from the franchise.
The new job post further adds,
“You have professional experience working on a narrative adventure game, or at least a strong personal interest in the genre.”
This again indicates the possibility of A Plague Tale 3, as it is the only popular narrative-adventure game developed by Asobo.
A Plague Tale 3 Is A Serious Possibility After A Plague Tale: Requiem’s Ending
The ending of A Plague Tale: Requiem offered plenty of room for another installment in the series. In fact, right after the game’s release in 2022, many fans and journalists reached out to Asobo, wondering what was next for the series’ protagonists, Amicia and Hugo.
At the time, however, the director of A Plague Tale: Requiem, Kevin Choteau had stated that the studio was waiting for the ‘player reception’ before deciding if they wanted to continue with the series.
Well, it’s a year later, and A Plague Tale: Requiem can be counted as a success. With over one million downloads/sales in just a year and a solid 9/10 Steam rating based on north of 10,000 user reviews, the second installment in the series is quite popular. The developer even addressed the console version’s FPS limitations by releasing a performance mode that enabled PS5 and Xbox Series X players to run the game at 60 FPS.
A case could be made that Asobo Games might just be looking for team members who are familiar with the developer’s previous games. This would make them extra qualified, as they would have a decent idea of how Asobo works with its IPs. However, the sudden appearance of new, yet similar job postings seems to be a positive indicator of the imminent (although pretty far in the future) arrival of A Plague Tale 3.
