UPDATE: Alan Wake 2’s New Game Plus mode is coming out on December 11, the team announced at The Game Awards 2023.
Original Story:
Remedy Entertainment will be adding a New Game Plus mode to Alan Wake 2 this month, according to a teaser posted by the developer on X.
In the cryptic post, Alan Wake is seen against the eerie backdrop of the city. He is pointing his flashlight at the wall which has ‘New Game +’ written on it in bold. The caption of the post is “New month, new game… plus?”
This makes it pretty clear that the developer is planning to add the new game mode in December, more than a month after the release of Alan Wake 2. The timing seems just right, as most players would have already finished the game or would be nearing the end.
For those who are new to the concept or have never tried New Game Plus (NG+), it is a mode that is unlocked after the player has finished the game. The NG+ mode usually allows players to restart the game with some or all items unlocked. This mode may also offer certain features, items, increased difficulty, and additional quests not available in the normal mode.
Fans are expressing their excitement in the comments of the X post, but several of them have additional requests. A photo mode and a physical version of the game are some of the more common demands.
Given that The Game Awards is approaching and Alan Wake 2 has received multiple nominations, it is highly likely that Remedy will take fans’ requests into consideration.
