ASUS ROG Ally, the upcoming competitor to the Steam Deck, will be able to go beyond 60 FPS on several AAA titles, according to a new report.
In a recent leak, Tech-Critter confirmed the previously surfaced rumors about the hardware and performance of the console. New information about this juiced-up handheld console is surfacing, shedding light on impressive performance capabilities of this gaming giant (pun intended). And it’s enough to make the Steam Deck sweat.
ASUS ROG Ally to feature non-detachable 16 GB SO-DIMM RAM
The ROG Ally will reportedly feature a superfast 16 GB SO-DIMM RAM that will be soldered down to the console. This effectively debunks the claims by several enthusiasts that the console will feature detachable RAM. It seems this decision has been made to decrease the thickness of the console, at the cost of its RAM being non-replaceable. This, however, offers a unique benefit- the non-detachable RAM unit means opening the console’s back panel to handle its SSD storage and battery, which are completely replaceable, will be a lot easier.
There also have been leaks about joysticks of the ASUS ROG Ally, with Tech-Critter claiming that the console will feature individual joysticks embedded on their separate daughterboard, connected to the motherboard by a small ribbon. This can technically enable players to swap the console’s original joysticks with Hall Effect ones (which ASUS ROG Ally does not feature). However, there is no telling if this task will be so easy that anyone can do it themselves, and there also could be a potential problem with voiding the warranty.
Players can expect smooth 60 FPS performance from ASUS ROG Ally
It is also rumored that some gaming insiders (GamerBraves) got a chance to get their hands on the upcoming console to test its performance capabilities, and they were pleasantly surprised. It seems that the ASUS ROG Ally will feature a smooth and crisp 60 FPS framerate. Insiders reported of having played Cyberpunk 2077 as well as Far Cry 6 on the console, with both games playing perfectly in 60 FPS, without any kind of lag or stuttering.
They have also tried Street Fighter 6 on the ASUS ROG Ally, which, to their wonder, handled the game superbly. The console allowed the game to be played smoothly, and the response time was fast and reliable- perfect for a fighting game. These new capabilities and features are surely a gift for players who love esports. The dazzling 1080p display and smooth operating experience and framerate is most likely to offer enhanced performance for games like FIFA.
