The 2024 Xbox Developer Direct kicked off with a closer look at Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming project. Avowed, the long-anticipated action-adventure RPG will be releasing in Fall 2024.
The showcase offered a detailed look at Avowed, detailing various combat and gameplay designs players can expect from the game. The clips showcased during Xbox Director Direct detailed the game’s fast-paced and highly flexible combat systems, as well as an in-depth look at the massive and vibrant environment the game is taking place in. The Living World in which Avowed takes place is a vast land, filled with diverse ecosystems, some barren wastelands that hide small gem-like oases, others dark and desolate, filled with neon-lit mushrooms growing all around.
The combat of Avowed is incredibly flexible, offering players an opportunity to seamlessly switch their loadouts. Players can choose and select between magic weapons, like wands, ranged weapons like crossbows and guns, and melee weapons, like swords. The fluid combat design is being designed to offer a higher level of flexibility, thereby allowing players to mix and match weapons that fall under different categories to create a truly personalized combat experience. Several combat gameplay clips displayed during the showcase also featured a close look at dinosaur-like enemies.
