Publisher 505 Games has announced the release of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake during the early minutes of The Game Awards 2023. The remake of this beloved adventure-platforming game will be releasing on February 28, 2024.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake will be releasing for PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and Windows through Epic Games Store, GOG.com, and Steam Store. As shown in The Game Awards, this emotionally rich journey of two brothers wading through mystical lands, filled with orcs and trolls, to find a magical cure for their father’s illness is now available to wishlist.
Originally released in 2013, Brothers: A Tale of Two Brothers was extremely well-received, garnering 8.2/10 by IGN and 9/10 on Steam. This beautifully created game features a majestic fantasy land based in a Nordic setting with unique platforming-based puzzles. The original game was designed by Payday’s Starbreeze Studios, however, the remake is being developed by Avantgarden SRL.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Brothers is the first game developed by Swedish game designer, Josef Fares, who went on to establish his own game development company, Hazelight Studios, right after the release of the original title. Fares is known for his emotional and profoundly meaningful co-op gaming experiences, generally based around families in distress. One of his most notable works is the 2021’s smash hit co-op adventure game, It Takes Two.
While both of the Fares’s subsequent games, It Takes Two and A Way Out feature co-op play for two people, the original version of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was single-player, with one player tasked with controlling both the game’s protagonists. This led to some interesting situations and creative approach from the gamer while solving the game’s many, many puzzles. With the cutting-edge capabilities of current-gen consoles that the game is releasing on, one can only hope that the remake of this game includes a couch co-op mode (along with the original single player mode).
