Activision has already announced a new Call of Duty game in 2023. That being said, there are alleged rumors stating that the new game will be called Modern Warfare 3.
With Modern Warfare 2 released in October 2022, players are excited for the new upcoming title to see what’s next for the series. Call of Duty 2023, or Modern Warfare 3, is developed by Sledgehammer Games along with the help of other studios that have worked on the franchise.
Many exciting features are coming to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, such as a new campaign, multiplayer modes, zombie mode, as well as a battle royale map called Warzone 2. The new Warzone 2 map is rumored to be set in the fictional city of Las Almas, which was previously seen in the Modern Warfare 2 campaign.
While many players are excited about the upcoming game being a part of the Modern Warfare series, many fear that it is too soon to release a sequel to a game that came out just last year.

Sledgehammer Games’ involvement
Sledgehammer Games has worked on many Call of Duty titles in the past, including Advanced Warfare, WWII, and Vanguard. This gives the studio a ton of experience on a variety of games from the series. That being said, they have very little experience with making Zombie modes for the franchise, and that might or might not work in their favor.
New campaign
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s story is rumored to pick up where the MWII campaign ended. The early access for the new campaign is set to be released on November 2, 2023, for all platforms.
Outbreak 2.0
Several sources have stated that the upcoming zombie mode in Call of Duty 2023 will be similar to the Outbreak mode from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It is unclear whether the new Outbreak 2.0 mode will be released as part of the premium version of the title or will be a free-to-play experience mode within the game.
Roll-out
As Activision was planning the game to be an expansion for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it is rumored that Modern Warfare 3 will be released as an in-game update in the form of an event.
Game launch
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will launch on November 10, 2023, and will be available on all platforms. The Season 1 launch of the new Warzone map will be out on December 5, 2023.
