Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth got its very first trailer showcased during the Summer Game Fest, along with a release window announcement. The game will be coming to PS5 in early 2024 and is split into two discs, which quite possibly is Square Enix’s way of intimating gamers about its massive expanse.
The trailer shows Cloud and his party finally leaving Midgar to explore the open world. We see them wondering about Sephiroth’s return, exploring the grass-filled world in style, on the back of iconic Chocobos, and battling a wide range of monsters and human antagonists. All the surviving characters from FF7 Remake were showcased in the trailer, along with a flame-tailed tiger tagged Red XIII, a character from the original game Yiffie, and a couple of Turks. The trailer also shed light on the monster form of Sephiroth and showed the party battling him.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will feature new storyline
The director and the producers of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have confirmed that this middle chapter of the FF7 Remake trilogy will deviate even further from the original storyline, offering a unique balance for the returning players between established storyline and unexpected twists. The world of this game is expected to be more expansive, with greater emphasis on open world exploration. Some brand-new characters will also be making appearance in this game.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake was firmly based on the initial stage of the original Final Fantasy 7 campaign. With Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, however, Square Enix has decided to take players through a whole new journey that will culminate in an epic never-seen-before narrative arc in the third installment.
Square Enix is currently gearing up for the release of Final Fantasy 16 on June 22, with a special event set for June 11, where the FF16 demo is rumored to launch.
