Hades, the highly celebrated roguelike, will be available to play on Netflix Games starting March 19, 2024. After teasing it three months ago, the streaming giant confirmed the release date and opened pre-registrations today via a trailer.
However, there’s a catch: Hades will not be playable on Android devices. The BAFTA-winning title will be launched on iOS and will be available to iPhone and iPad users only. This came as a sour surprise to Android users who were unaware about Hades’ iOS-exclusivity.
Supergiant Games, developer of Hades, has earlier ported two of its titles, Bastion and Transistor, to mobile but only on iOS. It thus seems highly unlikely for Hades to ever get an Android release.
Published by Netflix, Inc. on the App Store, Hades will be free to download for iOS users holding a Netflix subscription. The game will run on iOS 16 or above, meaning only iPhone 8 and later models will be able to run the title. Additionally, the iOS version of Hades will take up around 3.7 GB of storage space.
The mobile release of Hades is timed very well, for Supergiant Games is all set to release Hades 2 in Early Access this year. While a specific date hasn’t been disclosed, the sequel is expected to come out sometime in the second quarter of 2024.
