The story of the first Lies of P may have reached its curtain call, but the whispers of a new act are already rustling in the shadows. In a recent interview, director Jiwon Choi let reveals small details about what lies ahead for Pinocchio’s twisted odyssey.
During the interview with GamesRadar, Choi said a sequel was definitely coming. The most Choi would say is that development had already begun and was fueled by the game’s strong post-launch reception. However, before the curtain rises on Act Two, Pinocchio must face the echoes of his first act. The sequel will take place after the DLC, which is coming very soon. Players can expect fresh challenges and perhaps even answers to some of the lingering questions that sparked countless theories and discussions.
“This sure is something that many are wondering about, but I think it is too early to talk about it yet. This would be my top question if I were a player, but as a director, I feel bad that I cannot reveal it yet. Please take my answer as how serious Round8 is on the DLC and sequel, and they are being diligent. For now, I can only say we will reveal more when the time is right. We greatly appreciate your patience with this one!”
Jiwon Choi
Choi didn’t even want to say what ending was canon, hoping to keep everything a mystery until they were ready to reveal more. When asked about Dorothy and her red shoes, it was revealed that she wasn’t the only one considered for the ending. In addition to Dorothy, the team discussed many characters, saying that there were so many it would be impossible to name them all. There was apparently a discussion of almost every famous classic character.
The fact that there were more characters to consider means that we’ll likely get more than just Oz. If they were considering a specific classic story to bring in, then it wouldn’t be “too many to count.” It’d be the few main characters. Since there are my famous classic characters, it may mean that Pinocchio will go to multiple areas and meet multiple classic characters in a sequel to DLC.
We’ll have to wait and see, but it really does look like Pinocchio and Dorothy are just the tip of the iceberg.
