Light No Fire was announced at The Game Awards by Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games. Hello Games is best known for No Man’s Sky, and Murray is best known for his promises for the game, most of which have come true.
During The Game Awards, Murray took the stage to talk about the new game from the studio, Light No Fire. Based on his description, this is an open world where you can travel across the entire planet without boundaries. There are no invisible walls, so if it’s the size of planet Earth, there should be more than enough room for everyone.
After generating an entire universe, one planet doesn’t seem like much. The team working on this isn’t the team working on No Man’s Sky, at least not everyone. A small team from within Hello Games has been working on the game, and they’ve done a very good job based on the trailer. Murray seems to have wanted not to make any promises, but it appeared like he had a lot to say.
The trailer showed multiple players moving around a planet and building houses. They also rode animals in the desert and a dragon through the skies. The idea that we got from the trailer seems to be freedom to do what you want on this planet. There are hints of magic and medieval things, but nothing that we could really dissect. What is clear is that this game feels a lot like No Man’s Sky, with its amazing creatures and setting.
Hello Games has a big reputation for making a really great procedurally generated universe, and this small team seems to be doing a great job representing the studio. The game looks great and we look forward to hearing about more.
