While RGG Studio has not offered any specific details, it’s obvious that we will get new information about the upcoming Like a Dragon game, as the studio primarily works on the series. Yakuza, their most popular title, known in the west as Like a Dragon, is due for a new title, Gaiden, slated for release in 2023. The complete title for this new upcoming full-length game in LaD Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Fans are expecting that Sega will finally reveal the game’s release date as well as gameplay trailer during this showcase.
Sega has released only a short cinematic teaser for the upcoming LaD Gaiden. According to rumors and leaks, this game will continue the story of Kiryu after the events of Like a Dragon 6: The Song of Life. There are predictions that this title will be closer to original Yakuza games, much to relief of action-fighting game fans, who were disappointed at the direction of the series post 2020 reboot.
It is also possible that we might get a look at Like a Dragon 8, which is also currently in development. This title is expected to be a direct successor to Yakuza: Like a Dragon and it is anticipated that the story will be picked up right after the events of the 2020 game. There are predictions that the original protagonist of the series, Kazuma Kiryu, will make an appearance in the title alongside the newly introduced hero, Ichiban Kasuga.
