Ubisoft has released a new video where the development team behind AC Mirage offers a detailed look into the making of Basim, the protagonist of the upcoming game.
After featuring Basim in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the development team has been really excited to depict the character’s initial journey – from his humble beginnings as a common thief from the streets of Anbar to a member of the Hidden Ones to the master assassin seen in the Valhalla.
AC Mirage offers a deep look at the early years of Basim
In AC Mirage, the developers have taken Basim back to his roots, featuring a deadly assassin who’s extremely resourceful and features a complex personality and backstory. To unlock his experience as he rises through the ranks and collects essential skills, Ubisoft has decided to take a strong narrative-driven route in AC Mirage.
The game, as showcased in the first reveal trailer, will take place in the golden age of Baghdad, and feature some of the events in the early life of Basim, before he undertakes the journey to England and becomes a mentor to Eivor, the protagonist in AC Valhalla.
The developers have created a new story for AC Mirage, offering a fresh entry point for the newcomers to the Assassin’s Creed series. While there are many easter eggs and secrets that can be detected by series’ veterans, new players can immerse themselves in the AC Mirage without feeling lost.
The skill tree in AC Mirage will be unlocked based on the story, not XP
Unlike many prior Assassin’s Creed games, players will be able to unlock new skills, weapons, and in-game mechanisms through the completion of the main story in this new entry. This means players won’t have to gain a certain amount of experience points in order to unlock new skills, such as Air Strike, Breakfall, and Kick Back. Those will be awarded to the player simply after finishing certain landmark quests and missions in the game’s main storyline.
Basim has lots of tricks up his sleeves and his journey up the ranks among the Hidden Ones will only make him deadlier and more resourceful. Rising up in the Brotherhood from an apprentice to Mentor, following a linear narrative will allow players to unlock many weapons as well as outfits.
