Path of Exile 2 got its gameplay trailer revealed at Summer Game Fest. This comes after developer Grinding Gear Games teasing the fans about the sequel for a long time.
The brief trailer offers a look at the magic-based gameplay of the anticipated sequel. It promises more details about the game will be shared on July 28 at the Exilecon event in Auckland, New Zealand.
The gameplay trailer for Path of Exile 2 features the playable protagonist fighting off massive number of heavily armed enemies with a swish of her lightening shooting arms and summoning icy meteors using magic. The gameplay looks dark, bloody, and full of monsters, similar to the immensely popular first installment. A new logo for the upcoming game was also revealed in the trailer.
Path of Exile 2 was announced first in 2019 and it received the gameplay trailer after four years. The developer is yet to make any statement regarding the release window of the game. However, it looks like a concrete release date will be revealed during the Exilecon on July 28. Players are desperately hoping for a 2023 release.
2023 is certainly shaping up to be a good year for ARPGs, with Diablo 4 released merely a week before. Like its predecessor, Path of Exile 2 is also presumed to follow the free-to-play model. Judging by the timing of the showcase, this short teaser trailer may just be Grinding Gear Games’ way to ensure players that there will be a free alternative to Blizzard’s $70 release this year.
