The developer Q-Games has recently released a reveal trailer for the PixelJunk Eden 2. While the developer offers no exact date of release for this title, it is confirmed that the game will be released in 2023 for PS4 and PS5.
PixelJunk Eden 2 finally makes its way home to PlayStation
PixelJunk Eden 2 was initially released for Nintendo Switch in 2020 and up until now, it wasn’t available on any other platform. This was really surprising, as the first batch of PixelJunk games, including famous titles like Racers, Eden, SideScrollr, Nom Nom Galaxy, Monsters, Shooter, 4 am, and Shooter 2, were all launched as PlayStation exclusive titles. Some of these later received PC ports. These games were launched between 2007 and 2015. However, the games in PixelJunk series that launched post-2018 were featured on other platforms as well. These platforms included Nintendo Switch and the Apple Arcade.
PixelJunk Eden 2 uses PS5 DualSense’s unique abilities to enhance gameplay
Based on the trailer, PixelJunk Eden 2 looks and feels quite similar to the PS3-exclusive first installment, PixelJunk Eden. In this sequel, players will also be able to take control of Grimps, the small creatures that attach themselves to planes, and jump from them for a graphically pleasing platforming adventure. Taking full advantage of PS5’s next-gen capabilities, PixelJunk Eden 2 will feature a native 4K resolution and creatively use the latest unique functionalities afforded by PS5’s DualSense controller.
In the announcement posted on the PlayStation blog, the CEO of Q-Games, Dylan Cuthbert revealed,
“In PixelJunk Eden 2 the DualSense light bar reacts to changes in the current level, creating your very own personal light show for each unique environment… We’ve also utilized the gyro sensor to provide precision control, and collecting pollen rewards you with dynamic vibrations to mark your achievements. And exploring the world of Eden has never felt better thanks to extensive use of the unique vibration features, punctuating every swing and jump with immersive haptic feedback.”
Furthermore, he also explains how the developers have made use of other unique DualSense features to enhance the gameplay experience for players. Regarding other projects, Cuthbert added that Q-Game’s party-brawler game, PixelJunk Scrapper Deluxe is also set to release for PlayStation consoles this year on July 27.
