A recent earnings report from Konami suggests that more than one Silent Hill remake is in the works, hinting at the potential remake of the entire Silent Hill trilogy for modern gaming hardware in the near future.
In October of last year, Konami made an announcement regarding the revival of the Silent Hill series. The company unveiled its plans to release new games in the franchise, as well as a remake of Silent Hill 2 developed by Bloober Team, exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
Konami’s Statement About Silent Hill “Remakes”
According to VGC, Konami said,
“As for ongoing efforts, we are working diligently on Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, which faithfully recreates the story, characters, and game design of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, one of the most beloved entries in the Metal Gear series, and updates its graphical style to modern graphics for the current generation, as well as remakes and completely new entries in the Silent Hill series, which gained popularity as a psychological horror game.”
This statement confirms multiple Silent Hill remakes being in progress. More importantly, it points towards entirely new games in the franchise.
Upcoming Silent Hill Projects
Recently, developer Bloober Team updated the SteamDB page for the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which hints towards the imminent launch of the title in the near future. The team also stated back in March that the game was nearing the final stages of development. This remake is being crafted using Unreal Engine 5 and will introduce a fresh camera perspective while making significant improvements to the combat system and essential elements within the game.
Besides the SH2 Remake, there are several other Silent Hill projects in development. Silent Hill Townfall is currently being created by the Scottish studio NoCode and will be published by Annapurna Interactive. Another project called Silent Hill F delves into a fresh narrative set in 1960s Japan, offering an intriguing yet eerie world as its backdrop.
Moreover, Silent Hill: Ascension has just made its entrance as an interactive streaming series. This format allows the community to collectively shape and impact the storyline and the background of the Silent Hill universe.
