The remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, called Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, is unfortunately not going to have its new Fox Hunt multiplayer mode available at launch. The game is set to release on August 28, 2025, but the new multiplayer mode won’t be available until Fall 2025.
This is according to a new update on Konami’s website, which only provides a general ‘Fall 2025’ release window. It’s a bummer, especially for anyone looking forward to jumping straight into the new online game mode when the game comes out. For those who haven’t heard about it, Fox Hunt is a brand new, hide-and-seek-based online experience built for the game.
Game Modes Are Still Coming to Metal Gear Delta

Don’t worry, because the other two game modes that were announced for the game will be available at launch. These modes are a lot of fun, especially for those of us who remember the originals. PlayStation and Steam players will get to play ‘Snake vs Monkey,’ which is an absolute classic. In this mode, you get to play as Snake and have to round up all the escaped apes, which is just as fun and ridiculous as it sounds.

For all you Xbox Series X/S players, you’ll get to enjoy ‘Snake vs Bomberman’ at launch, where you have to blast Bomberman characters across different stages. It’s awesome that we’re getting these classic modes back, and it definitely helps soften the blow of the Fox Hunt delay a bit.
The rest of the game is still set to be an incredible experience. The remake will feature the same story and world that we all love, but with brand-new visuals and audio. This is a massive improvement on the core experience of the original, and it’s going to be amazing to see these classic moments brought to life with modern graphics and sound.
Metal Gear Solid Delta Will Just Add a Mode After Launch

The delay of the Fox Hunt mode is a bit of a letdown, especially since many of us were looking forward to a new multiplayer experience. However, the fact that we’re getting the classic ‘Snake vs Monkey’ and ‘Snake vs Bomberman’ modes at launch is a huge plus.

It’s a good way to keep us busy until the Fox Hunt mode is finally ready to go live. Plus, the core game itself is a remake of one of the greatest games ever made, so there will be plenty to do. Hopefully, the delay means that Konami is taking the time to make sure the Fox Hunt mode is perfect when it finally comes out. I can’t wait to see what the final product looks like. In the meantime, I’ll be busting out my best camouflage to try and find some apes when the game launches.
