Stardew Valley’s much-awaited 1.6 update is coming to PC on March 19, announced the game’s creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone on Twitter. Console and mobile versions will follow suit “as soon as possible”.
ConcernedApe first announced the 1.6 update in June 2022. And since then, the scope and scale of the update has clearly increased manifold. What started as a smaller update to enhance modding capabilities has now ended up housing new events, outfits, late-game content, a farm map, and much more.
If you want to jump back in, the developer has stated on Steam that the 1.6 update will work perfectly fine with your existing save files. However, he recommends starting a new file to experience all the new content in context. Also, you will have a new farm type at your disposal, which is more of a reason to start from scratch.
Along with the update release date announcement, ConcernedApe also shared a milestone for the game. It has crossed 30 million copies in sales since its release in 2016. The number is jaw-dropping, even more so for a solo developer game.
However, as it stands, 1.6 will likely be the last major update to Stardew Valley as ConcernedApe renews focus on his upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier.
