Super Mario RPG will be released on November 17, 2023. It is the first ever role-playing game featuring the titular Italian plumber.
Pre-orders for the upcoming game have begun on the Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo reveals trailer for first-ever Super Mario RPG
The trailer revealed various aspects of the upcoming title’s gameplay, including combat, traversal, and platforming. The game features the original trio – Mario, Peach, and Bowser and also introduces several new characters. The turn-based combat seems akin to many classic JRPGs, with parties of three standing off against a boss or several smaller enemies. Goombas and Pirhana plants are back, along with Yoshi. Some new characters have also been included in the crisp-looking Super Mario RPG, including two playable newcomers, Geno and Mallow. Nintendo has promised the fans an exciting RPG with lots of twists and turns. According to the official announcement,
“Mario must team up with his allies to face down a menacing force known as the Smithy Gang in order to recover seven stars and repair the Star Road. Whether you played the original game or have yet to take the journey, you can dive into this Nintendo Switch version of the very first RPG in the Super Mario series!”
Funnily enough, we also see Bowser and Mario fighting alongside one another in the trailer, trying to defeat a particularly large Pirhana plant. It looks like Nintendo is certainly taking the hoppity jolly plumber to new unexplored territory.
The trailer for Super Mario RPG also showcased some other interesting details, such as Mario using Yoshi as a stead and flying off a roller coaster. It also featured different types of trails, going deep through jungles and rivers, lava-filled worlds, and menacing-looking castles. We also got a brief look at some of the platforming as well as combat levels for Mario and his party, as well as some story elements.
