Valorant Mobile might be closer than we think, and the playtests have already been held in North America.
According to rumors from ReportersOnDuty, the mobile version of Valorant which is being developed by the tech giant Tencent is coming soon. Although it was earlier believed that we would see the Chinese version before the global launch, as per the latest rumors, the Chinese version is held back due to licensing delays. On the other hand, the global version may potentially be released first.
It also seems like Riot is not holding back from creating a robust esports ecosystem akin to the PC version. The Global Championship for Valorant Mobile is already in plans for 2024, and it may even run alongside the PC tournament circuit. Some organizations from China have reportedly already started working on establishing teams to get an early advantage.
The Confusion About Developers
Ever since the news of Valorant Mobile has been floating around the internet, there has been confusion as to who is developing the game. As per the source of this rumor, it is both Tencent and Riot.
However, it’s unclear if Riot is still developing the game or has dropped its plans. Although if Riot is developing the game by itself, we may see some cross-progression features such as the sharing of cosmetics and skins between both versions.
Valorant Mobile Leaked Gameplay Footage
In September 2023, a 3-minute long video (embedded below) showing Valorant Mobile gameplay shocked the entire community.
As far as the authenticity of the video goes, it does look like to be legitimate. The player can be seen maneuvering around the map in a Deathmatch very similar to the PC version. The gameplay also features almost all of the main agents such as Jett, Reyna, Breach, Skye, Sova, Viper, and many more.
