Nexon’s medieval fantasy PvP game, Warhaven, will shut down its online services on April 5, 2024. This is just four months after entering early access, so it didn’t go well. The developer announced the closure on Steam, expressing gratitude for players’ support while acknowledging the game’s struggles.
Warhaven launched into early access in September 2023, initially planned for a full release in early 2024. However, the decision was made to close the game instead due to a less-than-positive response from players and a declining player base. Reviews on Steam – which exceeds 6,500 – cited issues with balance, server performance, and a reduction in player count from 16v16 to 6v6 matches as contributing factors.
So, it’s not a lack of a fanbase because getting 6,500 reviews means people tried the game and cared enough to give their opinions. At the time of writing, it is set as “mixed.” The Steam announcement was pretty to the point.
“To create a game that could be cherished and enjoyed over an extended period, we invested much consideration and effort. However, regrettably, we must bid our sincere farewell as of April 5, 2024. We apologize that we could not come to you with better news. WP charge will be suspended today. We will notify you further about the exact details of the schedule later.”

While acknowledging the game’s shortcomings, the developers also expressed their appreciation for the community’s support. “Despite all the shortcomings, we will deeply cherish the warm affection and support you have sent towards Warhaven in our hearts. Thank you for being part of Warhaven’s journey,” the team stated.
Specific details regarding the closure, including the server shutdown timeline, will be announced closer to the April 5th date. Additionally, Nexon confirmed that the “WP charge,” presumably the game’s in-game currency purchasing system, has been suspended effective immediately.
It’s the kind of environment that games have today, and not everyone will succeed. We wish the team well, but if you enjoyed Warhaven, it looks like there will be some changes.
