How to Reach Myconid Colony and Grymforge to Get Harper’s Hidden Cache
In order to obtain the Harper Stash in Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to travel to the Underdark and reach the Myconid Colony (where the quest for finding a Noblestalk Mushroom can be completed).
Upon reaching the Myconid Colony, you need to go to the southwest part of this area, after defeating the Duergar enemy group you will encounter on the way. If you’d rather not engage in conflict, you can also engage with them through dialogue and use persuasion or intimidation to pass through without fighting.
After passing the Duergar forces, you will eventually come to the base of their outpost. Once you are there, after a little exploration, you will find a boat docked near the outpost. You have to get on this boat and start sailing in the dark.
Once you start sailing through the Underdark, you will cross paths with another boat. In order to ensure safe passage for you and your party, you will need to convince the passengers from the other boat that you mean them no harm by engaging in conversation with them. Alternatively, based on your current alliances, you can also choose to engage in battle with the passengers of the other ship. Once the battle or truce is done and the boat has moved on, you can continue sailing and reach Grymforge.
Grymforge is a massive area and can warrant hours’ worth of exploration. Many of Baldur’s Gate 3’s landmark quests can be finished here, and you can gain many attractive rewards through loots and finding hidden treasure chests. However, in order to get your hands on the Harper Stash, you must possess at least one lockpicking tool in you inventory. Otherwise, you can reach the treasure but won’t be able to access it.
How to find Harper Stash in Baldur’s Gate 3
- Once your boat is docked in Grymforge, get out and take a right turn. You will encounter a staircase.
- Keep moving up the staircase until you reach to the top of the castle. There will be a large hall surrounded by lava.
- Upon reaching the hall, you will encounter two doors, one open and other blocked by rocks and debris. Go through the open door.
- This door leads outside, and you will find yourself on a cliff. Take a right turn once you’ve stepped out of the door and start climbing the cliffs surrounding the castle.
- After climbing for a little while, you will stumble upon a lit campfire. Just besides the campfire, you will see a staircase leading down. Follow the staircase.
- Eventually, you will find yourself in front of another staircase, which eventually leads to a cragged rock wall.
- Climb down this wall and you will reach the edge of a giant cliff. On the edge, you will find a giant chest.
- You need to interact with this chest in order to progress in your quest to find Harper Stash in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Make sure that you and your party is battle-ready before you interact with the chest. As soon as you interact with this chest, a monster, Mimic, will leap out of it. Then, it will summon two of his compatriots and you will need to kill all three of these mimics to progress in your quest.
Tip: You can use the location on the cliff edge to you advantage. You can use attacks or magic to push the monsters off the cliff. Spells like Force Tunnel will come in handy, as it will push the mimics to their death.
How to access and open Harper Stash in BG3?
Once you have defeated all three mimics, you will need to create a manual save file and then head to the edge of the cliff. Once you reach there, an Investigation prompt will pop up. If your roll is successful, Harper Stash will magically show up. However, the item will be locked and thus you will need a lockpicking tool to unlock it and access its contents.
In order to unlock the Harper Stash, you need to roll a 20. Therefore, a manual save just before trying to unlock the Stash will come in handy. Try to get 20 by adding all the bonuses you have and even if you fail, you can just reload the manually saved file and try again till you succeed.
