Monster Hunter Wilds has all kinds of Main & Side quests that take you through the adventurous story of the game. While side quests aren’t necessary, they reward you with useful items that’ll help you progress faster. One such side quest is Forest Doshaguma, which requires you to capture a fierce beast deep within the forest. This guide will walk you through how to go about doing exactly that.
How To Start The Doshaguma Side Mission
The Doshaguma side quest is unlocked by speaking to Erik at the Forest Base Camp.
As the leader of the Astrum Unit, Erik takes care of all expedition tasks and is responsible for the mission’s success. He will ask you to capture the Doshaguma in the forest for him before he tries to do it himself.
The Doshaguma is one of the larger & more aggressive monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds. They’re extremely hostile and often found in packs. Keep in mind that they mostly spawn during the Sandtide weather. They spawn at different times, and will only be there for 20-40 minutes. Be sure to keep an eye on your map to track their spawn locations. If you see an active Doshaguma at the site, set a waypoint and travel to it. Besides the Scarlet Forest, they’re generally found in Windward Plains and Ruins of Wyveria.
Capturing Doshaguma in the Scarlet Forest
Before heading over to the Scarlet Forest for the Doshaguma, make sure to prepare by gathering essential traps. I recommend that you bring along the Pitfall & the Shock trap to stun the Doshaguma, and some Tranq bombs to tranquilize it once it’s stunned.
Once you reach Doshaguma’s location, quickly attack it while dodging its powerful claws. As you deal more damage to the Doshaguma, you’ll get claw shards and other materials that will be of use in crafting items later. While you can tackle the Doshaguma Solo or with a group, it’s recommended that you go for it alone. This is because the group might end up killing the Doshaguma instead of capturing it.
The fight isn’t particularly difficult, but it will take a lot of time to weaken Doshaguma. This monster is weak to Fire & Thunder, so equip weapons accordingly. Keep following the Doshaguma and weaken it with attacks. Pay attention to the NPC’s comments on its health. Once you hear one of them mention that Doshaguma’s health is getting low, you’ll know you’re close to capturing it.
Another telltale sign for this will be when you see the monster limping or drooling. This is the right time to use the Tranq bombs and capture the Doshaguma.
Rewards For Capturing Doshaguma
Capturing monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds can sometimes give you rewards that are not usually seen after slaying them. In this battle with Doshaguma, you have the chance to get items like:
- Doshaguma Fur
- Doshaguma Claw
- Doshaguma Hide
- Doshaguma Fang
- Beast Gem
These materials will help you in making armor pieces like the Doshaguma Braces, Mail, Helm, Coil, or weapons like Dosha FearBringer, Dosha Fastflayers, Dosha Farsounder, or Dosha Fleshhacker. There are multiple other weapons, armor, and Talismans that require Doshaguma materials to craft them.
You’ll also get Tranq Bombs and Large Dung Pods after returning to the Forest Base Camp and talking to Eric.
