The new Throne and Liberty expansion has brought many exciting items to the game, including a whole new zone, powerful equipment, and interesting Guardians. Among the newly added Guardians is Gloomy Jester Barbason. Here’s a guide on everything you need to know about this in Throne & Liberty.
Unlocking Gloomy Jester Barbason
You unlock Gloomy Jester Barbason by completing the Knight & Clown quest in the new Talandre map. I recommend you getting to this quest as quickly as possible, this transformation gives you an all-critical hit chance of 300, and 300 resistance.
Completing Knight & Clown Quest
Like every other Guardian, you would need the Morphstone of Gloomy Jester to carry out the transformation during battles.
The Knight & Clown quest will reward you with it. It’s a new quest investigating some old and strange frames scattered everywhere in an abandoned building.
To start the quest, open Codex and go to the Exploration tab. Here, look into the new zone (Talandre) and search for Bercant Manor. Once you open this section, scroll down all the way to find the Knight and Clown quest. You can add it to your favorites before starting the quest. This will make it appear on your screen, helping you search for it easily on the map.
Once you have the quest on your screen, open the map and locate Bercant Manor in Talandre. It will be near Thorny Village and Thorny Garden. Teleport to the area and make your way to a broken frame marked on the map. This frame will be in an old, broken-down structure. Interact with this frame to reach Bercant Manor.
You’ll enter Bercant Manor’s library in the next scene, where there’ll be large frames with incomplete paintings on them. Interact with these frames once (or twice) and you should see the painting completely disappear. I encountered several Eyeballs in this area, and it is best that you take care of them first before interacting with each painting.
After interacting with all the paintings on the first floor, climb up the stairs in the middle of the manor. You should see a large painting in the middle. Interacting with this special painting will complete the remaining art, instead of making it disappear. There will be a few more monsters at this level, take care of them first as they’ll drain your health quickly.
Once you defeat them, go ahead and interact with the painting again. You’ll acquire the Gloomy Jester Barbason Guardian by the end of the conversation. As a reward, completing this quest will give you Special Resistance Medals and some in-game currency.
How To Use Gloomy Jester Barbason Guardian
Guardians are special personas that allow you to change your character and gain special but limited abilities for some time. You can only have 5 Guardians at a time, but choosing each of them will impact your battles significantly. Once you obtain Gloomy Barbason as a Guardian, you’ll see that his abilities are more on the playful yet powerful side.
As this Guardian increases your critical hit chances, it’s best if you reserve him for the harder fights. He also has a higher resistance to enemy hits, making this Guardian the best choice in battles with other players.
