Abbess Ursula is the menace protecting the entrance to the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters in Lords of the Fallen. Much like other cloak and pointy hat-wearing magical beings that shall not let people pass, the Abbess too wields a staff. Naturally, to gain access to all that lies within the now unhallowed halls of the Abbey, you’ll have to defeat this secondary boss patrolling the courtyard.
Abbess Ursula isn’t as threatening as some of the other bosses in Lords of the Fallen, but some of her unique abilities can make it quite difficult to defeat her. So, here’s a guide to ensure that you snuff out all of the Abbess’ candles before she snuffs yours.

Abbess Ursula Attacks
The Abbess possesses less than a handful of attacks which are fairly telegraphed. This is not a close-quarter combat encounter. So, expect some predictable yet damaging long-range strikes that can, at times, knock you down. Apart from the attacks that are primarily confined to her staff, Abbess Ursula possesses two other tools: a chalice that rejuvenates her vigor and teleportation.
When all of these abilities are combined, this boss can be a handful to deal with, so here is a rundown of all of the Abbess’ attacks.
Attack | Description |
Radiant Beam | Abbess Ursula uses her staff to cast a powerful beam of radiance that does smite damage if it hits. She is usually staggered after this attack. |
Staff thrust | This is a physical attack that usually comes after the beam if you are within the Abbess’s Striking range. |
Poison Barb | Abbess Ursula drinks from the chalice and spits out a bunch of radiating poison barbs which can do poison damage. |
Teleport | The Abbess teleports to a random part of the courtyard. |
Heal | Abbess Ursula drinks from the chalice in her right hand to heal herself. |
How To Defeat Abbess Ursula In Lords Of The Fallen
This fight largely involves ranged attacks from Abbess Ursula. This boss isn’t all that fast and doesn’t move around much either. You can use these traits to get around her and land your heaviest strikes. While melee combat can ensure that you come out on top fairly easily, ranged attacks are also a great option.
Any Inferno spell that causes the burn status effect can damage the Abbess and give you a great advantage in battle. The telegraphed physical staff strike is a great opening to get behind the boss and strike. It is recommended that you use a weapon that does high damage. Any crossbow that does fire damage or preferably the Trapper Crossbow can make short work of this boss in no time.
Healing is usually a great opening to strike with a ranged weapon. Abbess Ursula is quite engaged while regaining vigor and you can attack quite a few times before she begins her next round of attack. The Staff beam tends to stagger her which can be used to your advantage to ultimately judge this Sinner at the Abbey entrance.
Before heading into this fight though, equip yourself with Smite Cure Elixir to get rid of the Smite status effect, should you come into contact with her staff beam.
Rewards For Defeating Abbess Ursula
