There are more than 100 different Pals in Palworld, according to the Paldeck. With so much variety, they all come with certain strengths and weaknesses. There are no “best Pals” that can do everything, but you can achieve this by having multiple Pals who each excel in their own specific tasks.

5 Best Starter Pals In Palworld
Putting together a team of solid starter Pals in Palworld should be priority one as a beginner. From Pals best for base-work like farming & gathering to Pals that are devastating in combat, here are the best beginner Pals you should pick:
- Cattiva: Best for base work
- Rushor: Best ground mount
- Sparkit: Best for combat
- Daedream: Best for combat
- Nitewing: Best flying mount.
Best Starter Pal For Base: Cattiva
Cat Helper: While in a team, Cattiva helps carry supplies, thus increasing the player’s max carrying capacity.
Capturing a whole bunch of Cattivas early in the game can be highly effective for base building. These Pals can do a lot, and I mean A LOT of base tasks. Things like gathering, mining, transporting- you name it. They also don’t require constant food after a lot of work, unlike some of the other Pals.
Cattivas are found in abundance in most areas, and you can easily find them by following their cat-like sound.
Best Starter Ground Mount Pal: Rushoar
Hard Head: Can be ridden. Increases efficiency of destroying boulders while mounted.
Getting a Rushoar will make traveling around the map much faster and easier. Not only that, with this pal you can charge into rocks and other materials to farm them quickly rather than using your tools.
It can require a bit of progress to get Rushoars though as you will need to make a saddle. Not to mention, they are aggressive in the wild and will attack you on sight, so make sure you’re prepared.

Best Starter Pal For Battles: Sparkit
Static Electricity: While in team, increases the power attack of Electric Pals.
We all know Palworld is heavily inspired by Pokémon, so obviously it has its own version of Pikachu called Sparkit. And just like Pikachu, this Pal is very powerful if you capture it early.
Once you get around to upgrading Sparkit, it can potentially be the strongest Pal in your team for a long time. It has certainly grown to become one of my favorite Pals to use in combat.
Best Starter Pal For Battles: Daedream
Dream Chaser: While in team, appears near the player. Follows up player attacks with magic bullets.
Another Pal that is great in combat is the Daedream. This Pal specializes as a nighttime Pal and can only be found in the Night. It is easy to get and can be found in a lot of areas.
Daedreams can prove to be a powerful Pal in your team, and upgrading them can make them viable even in the later parts of the game.

Best Starter Flying Mount Pal: Nitewing
Travel Companion: Can be ridden as a flying mount.
After getting a ground mount, you are going to need a good flying mount Pal. This is where the Nitewing comes in.
Once you unlock the Nitewing Saddle from the Technology tree, you will be able to use your captured Nitewing as a flying mount. Capturing one can be a tough task though; they are found on high mountains and hills and require some ranged weapons to catch.
