There is a flood of new players flowing into the servers of Sea of Thieves after its recent launch on the PS5. But some players who are eager to get into this pirating world were met with the Kiwibeard Error, but how do you fix it? The heavy load on its server likely causes this error due to the influx of new players, so let’s find out how you can fix this.
Fix For The Kiwibeard Error in Sea of Thieves
If you are getting the Kiwibeard Error in Sea of Thieves, it could mean that the servers are down, but If it’s not caused by the server being down, you can fix it by relinking your Microsoft account on PS5. Here is how you can do that:
- Go to your main menu on your PS5.
- Go to Settings
- Pick Storage
- Go to Saved Data
- Find the SoT Save Data from the list and delete it.
- Launch Sea of Thieves and wait at least 3 min.
- You will now have an option to relink your Microsoft account, which will fix the Kiwibeard error.

From what I have experienced, your character save data, such as your items and progression, will not be deleted if you delete the Save Data, so you won’t need to worry about risking that.
If the error still does not get fixed despite the servers being up, you will need to submit a support ticket so that Rare can investigate further to determine what is causing it specifically for your account.
How to check Sea of Thieves Server Status
You may want to check the server status to see if it is causing the Kiwibeard error. The Server status can be checked on the official Sea of Thieves website. If it says “All systems are working as expected,” that means the servers are not down.
Alternatively, you can also check the SoT Support Twitter account for server updates and information. Downdetetor is also a good source for checking if the servers are down based on user reports.
