When exploring the vast expanse of Starfield, there are some things that are essential and that you cannot have enough of — power, speed, safety, storage, and enough space to accommodate all your companions. Conveniently enough, Star Eagle in Starfield offers you all of these. While there are ships that offer one or more of these aspects, finding one that offers everything can make all the difference early game.
While most ships in Starfield are just handed to you for reasons as simple as having a hallucination or exploring a cave, the Star Eagle needs to be earned through some endeavors that may or may not prove daunting.
How to get the Star Eagle Ship in Starfield
If it wasn’t obvious enough from the name, the Star Eagle is associated with the Freestar Collective. These ships can be found pretty much everywhere and you might find the presence of the seemingly offbeat space cowboys. It is by completing their questline that you can unlock this powerful ship.
To acquire the Star Eagle in Starfield, you need to become a full-fledged Ranger. Before doing so, of course, you have to unlock the Freestar collective questline which can be done when you land in Akila City. You can find a Freestar Marshall named Daniel Blake in The Rock in Akila City. Speaking to the Marshall will start the quest ‘Job Gone Wrong’.
Once you’re in the Freestar faction, you can progress through the questline pretty fast, although some consequences are associated with certain missions. Consequences aside, the questline is fairly easy for early-game characters and you can unlock some useful rewards along the way.
The Freestar Collective questline culminates with the quest ‘The Hammer Falls’ which again is fairly easy to finish but comes with consequences. Once you’ve dealt with the mission objectives you can speak with Marshall Blake who will offer you the badge officially recognizing you as a Ranger of the Freestar Collective. As soon as you’re promoted, you’ll receive a prompt about your reward— the Star Eagle Class Starship — which of course does not require any registration fees.

This is by far the best class A Starship found in Starfield. This is also a ship that can carry you throughout the game given its impressive stats. It is both sturdy and can haul all the cargo you could possibly need for each trip. The only other noteworthy ship with higher shield stats than the Star Eagle is the Abyss Trekker which can cost you a fortune and has its own shortcomings when it comes to cargo capabilities and not to mention, the progress you need to make to unlock it.

Once acquired, the Star Eagle in Starfield could become your go-to ship for most of the playthrough. Given the myriad customization options for ships in Starfield, any deficiencies you might feel the Star Eagle has can easily be alleviated. So, it is best to complete the Freestar Collective questline as soon as you can to acquire the most optimized ship in the game.
