The Remnant series is a Soulslike shooter, but guns aren’t the only weapons you can wield. Melee weapons are just as powerful, and sometimes bordering on the busted territory like the Hero’s Sword in Remnant 2. This sword is a reference to Link’s Sword from Zelda and it also comes with a hidden power that allows the player to fire ranged attacks from the sword.
Let’s take a look at how you can unlock this powerful Hero’s Sword and the Archetype it requires to be unlocked in Remnant 2.
How to unlock Hero’s Sword in Remnant 2
To unlock the Hero’s Sword in Remnant 2, you need to unlock the Explorer archetype by completing the game. This means defeating the final boss; Annihilation. However, you will have to start a new game as the Explorer Archetype to get the Hero’s Sword.
Another alternate way is by completing the game on Nightmare difficulty. The difference with this method is that it will unlock the weapon to purchase from Brabus at Ward 13 for any character rather than having to start a new game as Explorer. However, for most players, the method of getting into a second playthrough with Explorer is more suitable.
The Hero’s Sword is a powerful melee weapon that starts at 51 base damage with a 5% Critical Hit chance, +90% Weak Spot damage, and -10% Stagger Modifier. It also comes with the Energy Wave weapon mod that can fire an energy wave projectile at enemies when you do a power attack, effectively allowing you to do ranged attacks with a melee weapon. However, keep in mind, this weapon mod cannot be removed or replaced. If you’re looking to expand your arsenal further, check out our guide on how to get the Enigma Gun in Remnant 2.
How to get the Explorer Archetype in Remnant 2
Here is a simple step-by-step guide on how to unlock the Explorer Archetype for the Hero’s Sword in Remnant 2:
- Finish the main story of the game by defeating the final boss, Annihilation. This will give you the Broken Compass item.
- Now, make sure you have at least 10 Lumenite crystals and 1000 Scrap, then head over to Wallace at Ward 13 and you should be able to trade the broken compass and the materials for the Golden Compass Engram. You will now have the Explorer Class unlocked.
- To get the Hero’s Sword, simply start a new game and select Explorer as your starting class, Doing so will make the Hero’s Sword your starting melee weapon.
That is all you need to know on how to get the Hero’s Sword in Remnant 2. Both methods will require you to complete the game as this sword is meant to make your next playthroughs of the game a bit easier.
