So, you could say Wuthering Waves is like Honkai Star Rail in some aspects. But, if you dive more into both these ARPGs you will find many unique qualities about each title that make them the game you’d like to play.

Wuthering Waves and Honkai Star Rail Differences
Although it’s safe to say gacha ARPGs, in general, have similar gameplay mechanisms and ideas, there are some major differences that set both Wuthering Waves and Honkai Star Rail apart. Both the games differ in:
- Game Storyline – While Honkai Star Rail’s storyline is based on a science fiction universe with intergalactic battles, and alien/humanoid enemies, Wuthering Waves delves more into the fantasy side of things where you need to survive the post-apocalyptic earth and take down the catastrophe that’s destroying whatever is left of it.
- Game Mechanisms – One of the main differences in mechanism is that Wuthering Waves allows players to use a grappling hook for movement, which is not present in other ARPGs like Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact.
- Party Size – While Honkai Star Rail also offers a four-player multiplayer experience, Wuthering Waves only allows three players to play together. That means only two other players can join the hosts’ world to experience the game altogether.
- Enemy Battles – Wuthering Waves pays a lot of attention to the action side of things and puts a lot more effort into the boss battles as compared to Honkai Star Rail. Utilizing team compositions, enemy vulnerabilities, and weaknesses makes these battles even more intense.
