Ruiner Boss Abilities And Moves In Lords Of The Fallen
If it isn’t evident enough from his position in the middle of the bridge in Fitzroy’s Gorge, the Ruiner has one purpose for existence: to deny passage through the bridge. It is on this objective that all of the boss’ abilities are centered around. The Ruiner boasts an extensive arsenal which includes the use of items that are on display when he is first revealed and ones that are introduced as the battle ensues.
Here’s what you can expect during your fight with the Ruiner:

- Ruiner Axe

Ruiner’s Moves
Axe Attack
Ruiner’s primary attack revolves around the axe that he wields. He is capable of swinging it in all directions without any specific pattern to follow. While these heavy attacks can be lethal they can be easily dodged or blocked.
Shield Bash
Ruiner’s shield serves as more than just a means of defense. He is capable of bashing into his enemies with the shield often following the axe swings.
Axe-shield Fire Strike
Ruiner has a unique fire attack where he strikes the axe against the shield like a match and unleashes a ball of fire in the direction he is facing. The shield glows bright red before the fire is unleashed.
Fire Stomp
A devastating attack in Ruiner’s arsenal involves a powerful stomp where he leaves puddles of magma. The puddles linger for quite sometime after the attack and can do AOE explosive damage if the player steps on it. This attack can be executed remotely from any part of the bridge and will strike the player no matter how far away they are from the Ruiner. It is also possible for multiple puddles to exist at the same time.
Flame Charge
Ruiner likes to charge at the player with some heavy flares building beneath his feet. This attack also leaves the magma puddles with the same effect if stepped upon.
Axe Fire Strike
Ruiner Strikes his axe on the ground to create a trail of fire in the direction he is facing. These flames are accompanied by explosions.
Magma Totem
To make things more difficult for the player Ruiner introduces a new challenge by spewing magma from his shield which immediately cools and turns into a totem of sorts. This totem radiates flame energy which increases the Ruiner’s attack stats.
How To Beat Ruiner In Lords Of The Fallen?
While Ruiner is a formidable secondary boss in Lords of the Fallen, he can be defeated with a fair bit of ease with some precise timing and speed. This boss himself is quite agile and capable of striking successively. But, each of his attacks is an opening that can be used to land your own. The magma attacks are best dodged as they can cause a lot of damage for a prolonged period of time.
Likewise, the flame charge also is best avoided. This can easily be done by moving back a few steps as the attack begins. You can judge the range of the flame charge with ease. The totem needs to be destroyed as soon as possible as it grants Ruiner an unfair advantage in the fight.
As far as your attack strategy is concerned, the best course of action is to get behind Ruiner after each of his attacks. Apart from the Totem and Fire Stomp, every other attack engages the Ruiner and leaves him open to your attacks. It is easy to get behind Ruiner by dodging and then landing the heaviest attacks available in your arsenal.
On that note, fire is both the Ruiner’s strength and weakness. Ice spells are also quite effective and will also offer you buffs. It is fairly easy to distance yourself from Ruiner and prompt long-range attacks. This will give you enough of an opening to attack with any inferno or ice spells you may have at your disposal.
This strategy combined with the dodge and strike attack pattern will make short work of the Ruiner boss in Lords of the Fallen.
