If you have been to the infamous planet Malevelon Creek aka “Robot Vietnam” out in the Automaton front, you probably know what Devastators are in Helldivers 2. But, for those of you who are yet to face the Automaton or just don’t know which one of those totalitarian robots the Devastator is, here is how you can find them and defeat them.
What Are Devastators In Helldivers 2?
The Devastators are medium-sized armored units with wide metal shoulders and a skull in the center of their torso. They come in three variants; Devastator, Heavy Devastator, and Rocket Devastator.
- Devastator: the standard Devastator is equipped with cannons in one arm and a fist on the other which is used to melee Helldivers.
- Heavy Devastator: these are equipped with a machine gun and a metal shield on the other arm.
- Rocket Devastator: this Devastator is equipped with shoulder-mounted rocket launchers on both sides.
Note: If you are looking to complete a Personal Order of eliminating Devastators, all three types of Devastators will count towards your progression.
Where Can Devastators Be Found in Helldivers 2?
Devastors are found on planets in the Automaton front. On the surface, they can be commonly found inside medium and large Automaton outposts along with objective POIs. Outposts are indicated by red zones on your minimap, the larger the size of this zone, the larger the outpost.

Normal Devastators are recognizable by their bulky frame and the skull head in the middle of the chest. The Heavy and Rocket Devastators are more easily spotted because of their distinct weaponry, Heavy will have a large metal shield while the Rocket Devastator will have huge shoulder-mounted launchers.
How To Beat Devastators Easily In Helldivers 2
- Devastators are heavily armored, so using weapons with medium and higher armor penetration is the way to go.
- The skull in the middle of its bulky metal chest is the weak spot to hit. Bullets that hit there will damage it even without armor penetration.
- Using stagger-heavy weapons like shotguns can be effective in keeping them suppressed and unable to move or use the weapons.
- You can also shoot the limbs off to remove one of the weapons on the arms, but it’s more effective to just focus on the head instead.
- For Rocket and Heavy variants, use teamwork to hit them from the back or make use of your stratagems to quickly get rid of them as they can be very powerful in higher difficulties.
