As you get tons of new weapons in The First Descendant, you will need to discard some of them and upgrade the ones you want. Many lower-level weapons will become useless as you progress, so here is how you can research and get the Phase Exchanger in The First Descendant so that you can use it to make your main weapons even more powerful.
How to Get Phase Exchanger in The First Descendant
Phase Exchangers in The First Descendant can be obtained through Research at Anais’ shop in Albion in exchange for gold and crafting materials. Go to the “Enhancement Material” tab in Anais’ shop, where you will find the option to research Standard Phase Exchangers and Precision Phase Exchangers.
You can research a Standard Phase Exchanger for 2,500 gold and the required crafting materials and the Precision Phase Exchanger for 50,000 gold and more crafting materials. However, you can also get Precision Phase Exchangers from earning it in the Battle Pass.
The crafting materials required for Standard Phase Exchangers can either be Superalloys or Multi-Composite Receivers. For Precision Phase Exchangers it will be a certain number of Liquid Metal or High Precision Exchange Components.

How to Use Phase Exchanger in The First Descendant
To use a Phase Exchanger in The First Descendant, you will need a Workbench. You can find one if you head north from Anias’ shop, or you can also find one at Outposts. In the Workbench, go to the Weapon Level Transmission tab to use Phase Exchangers.
Here is how you can use Weapon Level Transmission and utilize Phase Exchangers to upgrade your weapons in The First Descendant:
- While in the Weapon Level Transmission screening Workshop, click on the weapon you wish to upgrade
- You will be given a list of similar types of weapons currently in your inventory, and choose the one you do not need anymore (If you have no similar weapons, it will say, “No weapons meet the requirements.”)
- Check the “Result Preview” and see if you are satisfied with the increase in stats.
- If not, then choose a more powerful weapon to destroy instead.
- Confirm your selection by clicking “Weapon Level Transmission” at the bottom right to destroy the weapon you don’t need. This will use Phase Exchangers to buff up your main weapon by destroying the weaker one
Keep in mind that Phase Exchanger in the First Descendant is hard to Research as it requires a lot of gold and crafting materials. It’s best to hold onto them until you know which weapon you want to use the most.
