An official first look of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake has just been announced during the Sony PlayStation Showcase 2023, confirming a lot of rumors that have been surfacing throughout the year.
The Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake seems to have changed at least one thing from its original counterpart, as the new game is called Metal Gear Solid Delta. The MGS3 remake will be released in Autumn of 2023 as part of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, which will also include MGS1 and MGS2.
The promo takes us to a deep rainforest, starting with the slow decay of life – ants trying to devour a dead frog, who’s taken away by a bird of paradise. The bird flies his dead prey away, zip zapping through the beautifully rendered forest that echoes sounds of distant gunfire. Diving through a broken electric fence, the bird finally lands on a seemingly harmless log in the middle of a lake. After an eerie moment of silence, the bird barely escapes with his life, while a giant snake trying to hunt him down is devoured by a massive crocodile.
We then finally get a glance at the remastered Naked Snake, stealthily emerging from the water, perfectly camouflaged in the giant roots of mangroves, rough looking and stoic. The remake looks beautifully made, unleashing the entire power of the current-gen consoles. The trailer, however, does not shed any light on the story or premise of the remake, nor does it feature a single dialogue.
Hailed as one of the best stealth action games ever made, Metal Gear Solid 3 is a prequel to its predecessors. Unlike its action-heavy predecessors, MGS3, directed by Hideo Kojima was based around stealth, camouflage, and hunting. After the Master Collection announcement, it would definitely be fun to experience these games chronologically while revisiting them and see what Konami has planned for this franchise.
