Xbox has set a groundbreaking record, all thanks to Palworld aka “Pokemon with guns”. The company revealed in an official blog post that the game has crossed more than 10 million players on Xbox.
Palworld was released in January for PC and Xbox and was also made available on Game Pass. This resulted in a massive surge of players from the console, giving Xbox its biggest month ever with regards to total play time.
Overtaken only by Helldivers 2, Palworld is arguable one of the biggest (and surprising) video game releases of 2024 so far. The game took the internet by storm not only for its tiny similarities to Pokemon but also because of its highly appreciated gameplay.
Palworld had the biggest third-party launch in the history of Xbox, beating High on Life. On Steam, the game quickly soared up the charts and achieved 2 million concurrent players at a point. For reference, PUBG is the only other game to have managed this feat.
It should be noted that Palworld became an instant hit despite being in early access. The developers are reportedly planning a full release around January 2025. Nonetheless, player reviews so far have been overwhelmingly positive.
Upon its full release, Palworld may also make its way to the PlayStation, and that could result in a few more records being broken.
