According to Jeff Grubb, Sea of Thieves is one of the Microsoft games that he has ‘heard that might be coming to other platforms’.
This revelation came from Grubb, while he was talking on his Game Mess Mornings podcast. While he doesn’t offer any sources for this information, he believes that Sea of Thieves is one of the games that Xbox is offering to other consoles. According to Grubb, players can expect more Xbox-exclusive titles to come to other platforms as well.
If this rumor comes to fruition, it would mean a great deal for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch users worldwide. The co-op pirate-themed action-adventure game from Rare and Xbox was one of the first games ever to be offered as a Game Pass offering to subscribers. The game is quite popular and well-received and features a multiplayer online mode that could also benefit from a larger pool that can be brought on by multi-platform players.
There have been rampant rumors in the past few days, regarding a possible revamp of the Xbox marketing policies. Many insiders are claiming that in 2024, more and more Xbox first-party titles will be coming to other, competitor platforms. For example, there were two insider rumors recently about Hi-Fi Rush coming to Nintendo Switch.
All things considered, Sea of Thieves ending up on competitor consoles sounds plausible, especially considering it is a live service game. After all, being accessible by more players very well could translate to more revenue for Xbox. However, despite Grubb’s stellar record, we should, as of now, take this information with a grain of salt.
