Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is filled with collectibles. Some can be found during the main story, others are hidden away in nooks and crannies for players to explore and find out. In this guide, we will tell you how to use one such collectible called the Old Key, which is found in the game’s prologue.
Where To Find The Old Key
You can get the Old Key during the expedition festival from a woman named Colette. She exchanges it for a Festival Token, which is obtained by interacting with several people during the festival. You start with a one Festival Token by default, but if you don’t wish to spend it, you can:
- Speak with Antoine and give the correct answers to his questions
- Ans 1 – 67 years ago
- Ans 2 – Expedition Zero
- Ans 3 – Abilities you internalise by using a Pictos in battle after enough times
2. Win a duel vs Maelle
Once you possess an extra Token, talk to Colette at her artefact shop and get the key. However, the description of it is pretty vague, stating it is “An Old key for an Old Door.”
Where to Find the Old Door
The Old Key is used to get a collectible and unlock a trophy, but you will have to wait till Act II to do this. When you reach Old Lumier, you will need to split into groups as part of the main story to finish the objective. The first group is led by Lune, and the second one by Maelle. Complete the section where you play as Lune, after which you will be automatically switched to control Maelle and Verso. This is where you finally get to put that key to use.
As soon as you switch, proceed straight ahead from the Left Street Rest Point, since this is where Maelle starts her turn. Keep going until you reach an open area with a giant, glowing sword stuck in the ground. From here, take a sharp right from the archway and reach the end of the cliff.
Now jump down onto a huge pipe with a hole in it and a Polished Chroma Catalyst on top. Once on the pipe, advance carefully and drop down into the hole. Turn around to spot a grated gate with a corpse and an item locked inside. Use the Old Key to open the gate and collect the Fracture Survivor Journal.
This collectible counts towards the Follow the Trail achievement/trophy.
