Tekken 8 has surpassed 2 million copies in sale after being launched on January 26 earlier this year, Bandai Namco reported today in their Q3 2023-24 financial report. According to it, the sales number for Tekken 8 is “better than” they “hoped for at this point.”
This remains one of the silver linings for the Japan-based developer-publisher, especially considering the rough launch of Amazon Games-published Blue Protocol in Japan in June last year. Bandai Namco’s take on the free-to-play online action RPG, very much in the veins of Genshin Impact, failed to generate much interest. The financial report states that the company faced 21 billion Yen impairment losses and much of that is attributed to Blue Protocol.

However, Tekken 8 remains a successful product for Bandai Namco, with Seasonal DLCs for the game lined up in the coming future. The Season 1 DLC already has fan favorite Eddy Gordo confirmed as one of the roster additions with several more rumored.
As for Blue Protocol, the game is rumored to have a worldwide release later this year on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
