While XDefiant shares the same old run-and-gun concept followed by every popular FPS game in the market, it implements its very own touch by adding Factions. Factions can be considered as classes with their own special abilities. So, everyone in the lobby can choose their own faction and utilize their abilities to win the match.

What Are All Factions In XDefiant?

XDefiant features a total of five different Factions that players can enjoy in the game. These factions are:

  • Libertad
  • Phantoms
  • Echelon
  • Cleaners
  • DedSec

Each faction has its own set of skills and specializations that make them unique. You can choose any of them in battle and even shuffle through them to find a main that suits your playstyle the best.

Now, let’s find out about each of these factions.

Libertad Faction

Being a Ubisoft creation, XDefiant pays homage to Far Cry 6 by adding the Libertad faction to the game. This faction essentially comprises of the freedom fighters from the Caribbean nation of Yara who are skilled in their knowledge of medicine.

Libertads are equipped with a lot of medical supplies and can be considered as the support/healer characters in the game. Their skills include:

  • Ultra: Medico Supremo – Large health and healing boost provided by the Medico backpack for a limited amount of time.
  • Passive: Espiritu de Libertad – Spirit of Freedom is a passive skill that slowly heals you and your teammates over time.
  • Ability: El Remedio – You can place a gas canister to heal your team members until it gets destroyed.
  • Ability: BioVida Boost – Boosts total health and health regen for you and your teammates using a fortifying wave.

Phantoms Faction

Phantoms are the soldiers of XDefiant that belong to the Shadow Team of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Phantoms. This faction can control the arena well and help the team take over the battlefield. Phantoms specialize in their different shielding abilities, including:

  • Ultra: Aegis – Phantoms can put up a semi-circular plasma shield to protect your teammates from close-quarters combat.
  • Passive: Hardened – Due to this passive, Phantoms have increased Health as a result of tailored gene therapies.
  • Ability: Mag Barrier – You can also put up a Mag Barrier to block enemy fire and grenades.
  • Ability: Blitz Shield – You or your phantom teammate can equip a tactical shield to block attacks as well as use the shield for melee combat.

Echelon Faction

The Echelons are Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell super spies introduced to XDefiant. This faction is very useful for revealing enemy locations and can appear invisible on the minimap. Their abilities can also give you a huge tactical advantage in winning the game.

Their skills include:

  • Ultra: Sonar Goggles – This skill reveals enemies and you can then hunt them down with the Third Echelon 5.7 pistol.
  • Passive: Low Profile – You can use this ability to disappear from the enemy’s minimap.
  • Ability: Intel Suit – Echelons can share enemy locations with teammates.
  • Ability: Digital Ghillie Suit – Makes you practically invisible unless you move in the arena or aim your gun at enemies.

Cleaners Faction

Cleaners are pyromaniacs from Tom Clancy’s The Division that can cause heavy fire damage to enemies. They are usually the team’s main DPS, equipped with incendiary bullets, flamethrowers, and more fire-spreading equipment. Their skills include:

  • Ultra: The Purifier – A flamethrower that can be used on enemies.
  • Passive: Incendiary Rounds – Ammo that adds burn damage to enemies but weapon range also decreases.
  • Ability: Incinerator Drone – Drone equipped with fire.
  • Ability: Firebomb – A Molotov cocktail that can explode and ignite the surrounding area.

DedSec Faction

The DedSecs are the hackers of the team and can mess with the enemy team’s HUD and even take control of their drones and turrets. Originally from Watch Dogs 2, their technological abilities include:

  • Ultra: Lockout – This skill disables your enemy’s HUD, minimap, and even abilities during the game.
  • Passive: Fabricator – The fabricator can print a new device after one has already been deployed.
  • Ability: Spiderbot – The spiderbot will stun your enemies.
  • Ability: Hijack – You can use this ability to hack the enemies and make use of their skills.

So, all you have to do is just wait for the game’s release to try out these factions in XDefiant!
