Xproger, the creator of OpenLara Engine, was the lead developer of the recently released Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered.
On February 14, shortly after the Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy was released, Xproger announced via an X post that he had led the development team for this project. He addressed the fans of the OpenLara open-source engine, who were perplexed by the lack of updates over the past year.
In a heartfelt X post, the developer thanked the leadership of Saber Games for granting him an opportunity to head the Remastered Trilogy project. He mentioned that Saber trusted him and allowed him to form a ‘dream team of true fans’. He further added that Saber granted the ‘small development team’ he assembled ‘complete freedom’ from the beginning.
Xproger had been working on remastering the first five Tomb Raider games unofficially for the past few years. He claims that this official opportunity to work on remastering the original trilogy was his dream project, a landmark achievement that is the culmination of his hard work over the last eight years.
OpenLara Engine, Xproger’s longtime running open-source initiative, enabled players to run the upgraded versions of the first five Tomb Raider games via their browsers. Apart from accessibility, the constant updates by the developer allowed him to offer even more functionalities to the series’ fans, such as First-person Mode, enhanced graphics performance, and improved framerates.
