Content Warning pulled off a Palworld as the game crossed 200,000 concurrent players on Steam within a day of launch. Two weeks later, the game has already sold 1 million copies, which is a gigantic feat for a small indie game.
Developer of the viral sensation, Landfall announced the milestone on X while thanking the fans. The post read:
“Thank you all so much for liking our scary Iill game ♥️”
What makes this milestone even more impressive is that the game was free for the initial 24 hours of launch, during which 6 million players downloaded it at no cost. Post that, the game was priced at $7.99, which means the title generated about $7.9 million in revenue in less than a month!
While Content Warning initially entered SteamDB’s Most Played Games chart, it now has a healthy 24-hour peak of 30,000 concurrent players. It is currently the 11th on Steam’s top sellers list with over 94% positive reviews.
The success of Content Warning can be attributed to its simple yet fun found-footage-style gameplay that co-op gamers are appreciating. To keep building on the momentum, Landfall recently announced the Lost Footage Project that is allowing players to submit their in-game footage for other players to discover in the game.
