A new rumor suggests the upcoming Wonder Woman game looks visually similar to Gotham Knights and runs only at 30 FPS as of now. Popular insider Nick Baker aka Shpeshal Nick revealed in a podcast that the developers are working on integrating a 60 FPS performance mode.
Speaking about the game on the Xbox Era podcast (first spotted by X user Idle Sloth), Nick said,
“Visually similar to Gotham Knights, but probably a little bit better.”
While this standalone comment is quite vague, one can guess it most probably refers to the video game engine and/or the director’s treatment. But there’s reason to believe that the new game will run on Unreal Engine 5.
WB’s Wonder Woman Game Is Most Probably Being Developed In Unreal Engine 5
Gotham Knights was developed in Unreal Engine 4 and ran at 30 FPS on consoles. It lacked a 60 FPS performance mode, which was a major point of criticism for the game. So, it’s only natural that the Warner Bros. studio will try to implement a higher frame rate for the next DC game.
Back in February, a report almost confirmed that the next title by WB Games Montréal would be a single-player game developed in Unreal Engine 5. A quick look at the studio’s website reveals that it is hiring for Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman game. Additionally, Warner Bros. has recently denied rumors that the game will be a live-service title.
Connecting all these dots leads us to a conclusion that the single-player Wonder Woman game will run on Unreal Engine 5, thus making it “visually better” than Gotham Knights, as Nick Baker suggested.
Rumor Suggests Wonder Woman Game Takes Inspiration From Crackdown And God Of War
Nick further went on to reveal on the podcast that the new Wonder Woman title would include elements like mobs, bosses, mini-bosses, etc. He also added that the chests and loot drops in the game would offer torso gear, braces, and boots, which may sound familiar to God of War fans.
According to the insider, the game would allow fast travel via the invisible jet Wonder Woman is commonly known to use in the comics. He continues to add that movements like leaping, dashing, and jumping are inspired by Crackdown.
Lastly, the rumor dropper says that The Lariat aka Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth “feels good to use” and works similar to Spiderman’s webs. The lasso can be wrapped around enemies to slam and combo them. It’s highly likely that the game will include a Truth mechanic to go with this lasso since it’s such an iconic part of the character.
Warner Bros. hasn’t announced a release date for the Wonder Woman game yet. But considering it was announced at The Game Awards in 2021, we hope to hear more about it soon.
