How to Repair the Train Station in SteamWorld Build
To trade items in SteamWorld Build, you need to repair the Abandoned Train Station. This will allow for trains to run through your town to collect or drop items that you trade or buy. Here are the items you need to repair the Train Station:
- Workers x120
- Boards x4
To get Boards, you will first need to have a Forester and a Lumber Mill built, this will start the collection of wood that the Lumber Mill uses to produce Boards. Once you have all the items, follow the railway track to find your Train Station, select it, and initiate the repairs.
After the repairs are done, the train will arrive at the station every five minutes and you will now be able to regularly trade items with the help of the Train Station.

Using Train Station to Trade Items in SteamWorld Build
After the Train Station is up and running, you can now initiate trades. Here is how you can initiate and complete trades:
- Click on the Train Station then click on the + sign under the Ongoing Trades list on the far left.
- On the Trading screen, you will have the items that you can offer on the left side, and the right side will be the items that you can get in return for it, select your desired items and amounts for both sides.
- After they are selected, press Create Trade to initiate the trade. It will now appear on the Ongoing Trades list.
When you initiate a trade, it goes into a queue of ongoing trades which are completed once the train arrives at the station. You can have up to five trades in the queue that will be completed simultaneously when the train arrives.
You can also check the estimated time of arrival for the next train at the bottom of the trading screen. Once the animated train reaches the right side of the screen, a train will arrive at the station.
A general tip here is to avoid using your Money in trade for items, Money is better used for building structures and buying items from the store. Trading is better used when you have one or a few rare items that you can spare to trade for an abundance of materials, Due to the ratios you can bank some profit like that instead of having to produce the materials.
