The Climbing Minigame in Chapter 5 of Deltarune might not look intimidating, as many players have completed the challenge under 20 seconds, but when you get the number down to 17 seconds, that’s when the difficulty begins to take center stage.
You have to map out every facet of the climb to make it to the finish line before the clock passes the 17th second, and is much more challenging then finding Fox locations or the Secret Egg in Chapter 5. Each second matters; wasting time will jeopardize the final number. If you are struggling to complete the challenge, we will help you complete the Climbing Minigame within time by giving you a step-by-step full walkthrough of the challenge.
Completing the Climbing Challenge Minigame
Note: I’ve added letters to the climbing rocks to make it easier to understand the goals and objectives.
First Section:

- At the beginning of the challenge, charge it for a higher jump to reach the “A” spot. I’ve marked the spot with a yellow square, that’s your target for the first jump. Then make your way towards the top, “B” spot. The timer for getting from A to B should be around 2.0 or 2.2, and you will be fine.
Second Section:

- Then we start from “B” and make our way to “C” at the top to the right. Here we are going to face waterfalls pouring from the fountains scattered on the wall. I will highly recommend you not to wait for the waterfalls, make a rush to the C. Make sure to not to wait and move after the water finishes pouring, run to the next location before the water pours from the fountains. The timer here should be at 4.8 to 5.0. Leaving us 10 seconds to complete the challenge.
Third Section:

- Now we move from “C” to “D” and finally to “E”. Again, the same rule applies: don’t wait for anything, keep rushing to the next goal. The timer should be at 7.5 or 7.6 when you reach the “D”spot from “C” on the section, as marked on the image above.
- And then we go from “D” to “E”, which will take 3 seconds, totalling the final clock counter at 10, leaving us 7 seconds to work with for the rest of the challenge.
Fourth Section:

- Now, from “E”, make a small boost jump to the rocks above, and make your way to the “F”. From “E” to “F”, you will be down 2 seconds, setting the timer at 12.3 or 12.5.
- Now we need to perform another small boost jump from “F” to “G”; even if the section has no gap in the middle, we are doing the jump to save time. Then make your way to the “H”, and your overall timer will be set to 13.7 or 13.9.
Final Section:

Now we arrive at the last section, make your way from “H” to the “G” cube. Here we are facing the difficult section of the challenge, as we have to deal with four water fountains, back to back, with no space in between. It can get ugly, but it’s manageable, and it’s also tricky. So here is the game plan.
Waterfall Section:
The sequence of the waterfall goes from faster on the right to slower on the left. The water from the 4th fountain, marked on the image, falls one cube faster than the 3rd fountain. The same pattern carries over to the 3rd, 2nd, and finally the 1st. This falling pattern creates a cube-shaped space on the top of the water, as spotted in the image.

Every waterfall has a space above. When the space aligns with our climbing section, we can move freely without interacting with the water. Don’t slow down, just keep on moving to the left, and you will be fine. And you will complete the entire puzzle under 17, or maybe less than that.
That’s it, now you have completed the Climbing Challenge, and Ralsei will blow a kiss and award you with a trophy afterwards.
