Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced crossed a major sales milestone with more than 3 million copies sold. This was put up on the official Assassin’s Creed Instagram account, where, along with this number, the developers also added this tantalizing line, which is sure to create buzz across the gaming community:
“Guess we’ll have to keep the adventures going with New Game + later on, mates”
The game launched on July 9 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, so, these numbers have been achieved in just over a week, indicating a pretty promising start to what Ubisoft hopes will be a big sales driver for the company.

These initial week numbers are almost exactly the same as Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, where the game crossed 1 million numbers on launch day, and 3 million numbers within a week. The game, however, was ultimately not able to match to the Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla numbers, and Ubisoft will be hoping that Black Flag Resynced has a much better tail than what Shadows eventually ended up with.
If the maximum concurrent players on SteamDB are any indication, then things look encouraging for Black Flag. The game crossed 100K active player count, comfortably higher than the 64K active player count for Shadows in their first week.
The game also has been received quite well by critics – Shadows sits at 74.59% on SteamDB, with Black Flag Resynced similarly at 74.9%. On Metacritic, however, Black Flag Resynced sits at a score of 84 and a Generally Favorable critic score, plus an 8.7 User score. Shadows, on that comparison, sits at a critic score of 81, but, critically, a user score of only 6.1.
Whether this translates into what Ubisoft is hoping to deliver with Black Flag Resynced, only time will tell. The game is the equivalent of breaking the bank for Ubisoft – as it pulls out with this Resynced version, one of the most loved games of the franchise, and from Ubisoft.
Over here at GamesHorizon, we have, of course, been playing this game incessantly since launch and have a dedicated guides hub for AC Black Flag Resynced, so be sure to bookmark this page if you are one of the 3 million who have played this game, or are planning to!
