Beast of Reincarnation received its first post-release patch from developers Game Freak as promised, as they attempt to salvage the game from the lukewarm reviews and mixed response to the game from the gaming community.
The notable things that the patch improves is camera adjustment vis-a-vis player position, both in and out of combat. This had been pointed out by quite a few players in their gameplay experience, so the fact that it has been heard and worked upon does sound encouraging.
The other interesting change in the patch notes is the balance adjustment to bosses across all difficulty levels, and to enemy encounters at Normal difficulty. This, again, was something that got pointed out by players – that particularly in early levels, getting mobbed was almost certain death in the game, and even normal enemies did take out a decent chunk of your health with a hit.
Story pacing has been adjusted to ensure that the affinity-building conversations are limited to once per day, as against the current state where you could run through multiple such interactions one after the other.
You should also now be able to enjoy the cutscenes at a better frame rate, since the current default Cinematic mode for cutscenes has been changed to Performance.
Of course, the patch notes come with the standard bug fixes for certain points in the gameplay, as well as overall game settings.
There have been occasions in the past, where, after a game that had a lacklustre opening has been able to turn it round through a dedicated series of gameplay adjustments, additions and fixes, to the extent where the reworked game is a fair mile away from the state of the game on the launch day.
Game Freak do have the resources to invest and keep working on the game – the hope is that the shift from what they have been known to, is something that is important for them, and hence the support and improvement attempts post-launch will continue on Beast of Reincarnation.
