The hype around One Piece live action cast has recently increased following the appearance of the original Straw Hat Pirates at the Netflix TUDUM event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on June 17, 2023. Now, the live action has been under the spotlight for quite some time due to various reasons. Mackenyu Arata and other actors who have joined the One Piece live action cast to play the Straw Hat Pirates
The main cast
Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy
Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy has been seen perfecting many roles across various Television series, including Blue Demon, La querida del Centauro, Los elegidos, ¿Quién mató a Sara?, and The Imperfects, among others. He has also been seen as Tavo in the 2022 film, MexZombies. The same year, he took up the role of Fausto in No abras la puerta. And now in the role of Captain Monkey D. Luffy in Netflix’s One Piece live action, this might be the actor’s most ambitious project.
Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro
Also known as Mackenyu Maeda, the Japanese actor has been seen in several live action series of popular anime shows, such as Kamen Rider Drive: Surprise Future, the three films of Chihayafuru, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Chapter I, Tokyo Ghoul S, Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, the two part film of Fullmetal Alchemist, etc. He has also starred in various television series, among which his role as Takauji Namiki in Kiss that Kills was met with positive responses. He will now be seen as the famous green-haired pirate and swordsman who uses the ‘Three Swords Style’ in the One Piece live action.
Emily Rudd as Nami
Like Godoy and Arata, Emily Rudd has been active in the entertainment industry, having been seen in both TV series and films. Before taking up the role of Nami in One Piece live action, the American actress has starred as Cindy Berman in Fear Street Part Two and Part Three. Other than that, she has also briefly appeared as Ella Hopkins in The Romanoffs, Heidi in Dynasty, and Clara as Hunters, among others.
Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp
The fourth actor to be included in the main One Piece live action cast is Jacob Romero Gibson, who will be seen as the eccentric marksman of Straw Hats, Usopp. Besides appearing in several shorts like Five or Jealous, Romero has been famously seen as Josh in Grey’s Anatomy. The 26-year-old actor will next be seen as Jake in Blairsden.
Taz Skylar as Vinsmoke Sanji
To be seen as the charming master chef of the Straw Hats, One Piece live action cast member Taz Skyler has been an Olivier Award Nominated Writer. Besides acting and writing, he has also been credited as a producer. Debuting in the role of Dawes in The Kill Team, he extended his repertoire by featuring in various shorts, films, and TV series like The Lazarus Project. Skylar is also a stage actor and has been seen as Miles in #Warheads and Leonard Vole in Witness For The Prosecution.

Aside from the actors of Straw Hat Pirates, the One Piece live action cast will also be joined by several others. As of now, Netflix has announced only the first season of the series. This will comprise of 10 episodes that will cover five arcs from Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus series.
