How to Start the FF16 Blacksmith’s Blues Side Quest
This mission unlocks with the main quest Here Be Monsters, where Clive and Jill return to the Hideaway to prepare for a new adventure. During the quest, you must speak with the following characters: August, Blackthorne, Charon, and Nektar.
Steps to Complete Blacksmith’s Blues in Final Fantasy 16
Speak to August
First step is to locate August by the Counter in the Hideaway and strike a conversation with him. Select the first option, “If you think it will help,” to start the Blacksmith’s Blues quest. Afterward, proceed to Blackthorne.
Speak to Blackthorne
After completing the first step, speak with Blackthorne. To get to the Black Hammer location, follow the green marker. During your talk with Blackthorne, he will notify you that a leather cuirass has gone missing.
Speak to Charon
To learn more about the cuirass, speak with Charon, the shopkeeper in Hideaway. During your talk, she will explain that she has sold the cuirass to a leather worker. The next objective is to find a notorious griffin known as Dozmare. Speak with Nektar to gain access to the Hunt Board in order to find the griffin.
Speak to Nektar
Find the Moogle near the Arete Stone and strike up a chat with him. To access the Hunt Board, choose the option that asks about any ‘sightings of griffins’. Then, from the list, select Dozmare. Your next objective is to reach Dozmare’s location.
Griffin Location
To locate Dozmare, open the map and navigate to the Lostwing region. Find Norvent Valley from there. Look for a tiny trail heading west from the Caer Norvent region, which is your final destination.
Fight with the Griffin
Pass through Cutter’s Gate and continue south until you reach the Caer Norvent River Gate. The griffin can be found by heading south towards the wall. Dozmare uses a variety of powerful tactics to do heavy damage against you, including quick dashes, elemental blasts, and wind attacks.
Make sure you bring plenty of healing items to keep yourself healthy throughout the encounter. Continue to strike the griffin while being ready to counter its attacks. To properly avoid its assaults, use dodging methods. To maximize your attacking skills, improve your Eikonic talents and use Rising Flame abilities.
Head over to the Leather Worker
Continue south from the battlefield after defeating the Griffin until you come upon an injured man, who is the leather worker you’re looking for. When you interact with them, they will give you the leather cuirass you require. Return to the Hideaway and bring the leather cuirass to Blackthorne to complete the Blacksmith’s Blues quest.
