Hexworks’ new Soulslike RPG Lords of the Fallen introduces a plethora of items and features that are designed to help you progress through the main story and aid you in combat. One such item of great importance is the Umbral Lamp, which you will be receiving early on in the game.
The Umbral Lamp is a powerful tool that will help you navigate through the Umbral Realm of the game. It is also used for combat purposes, allowing you to deal higher damage to your enemies and even perform stun attacks after you consume Soul Flay charges.

Just like every other weapon in the game, the Umbral Lamp is also an upgradeable tool, and enhancing it will grant you new Umbral Eye Sockets and some Soul Flay charges. In order to upgrade it, the first item you’ll need to acquire is an Antediluvian Chisel.
Locations For The First Few Antediluvian Chisels
1. Calrath Slums
Here, you’ll need to warp to the Alehouse Vestige and go down the stairs all the way to the bottom which will lead you to a hole in the wall. You can jump down onto the street from there, but be sure to avoid all the traps that’ll be in your way. From there, roll through the mines to avoid taking damage and the Crossbow Snake Men in the process. From there, run up the road until you reach the top and turn right into a square.
Here, you’ll encounter a few enemies. After eliminating them, enter into Umbral and try to run past the Easter Island Head creature near the stairs. And finally, at the square’s center, you’ll find a Soul Flay creature, granting you an Antediluvian Chisel.
2. The Fief
After you defeat the Fire Giant boss and complete the main storyline in the Calrath Lower City, you will return to Skyrest. Here, you will find a note that will instruct you to head over to the abandoned Redcopse waypoint. Once you reach the location, open the bell door and walk through the cave. As you progress through, you’ll encounter a Frost Viking mini-boss and some Frost Wolves. On the wall behind the boss, you’ll find a Soul Flay creature, which will grant you another Antediluvian Chisel.
As you progress through the main story, you’ll come across several other locations that will allow you to acquire more Antediluvian Chisels to upgrade your Umbral Lamp further.
Steps To Upgrade The Umbral Lamp
After you’ve acquired enough Antediluvian Chisels, you can start upgrading your Umbral Lamp by following the steps below:
Step 1: Spawn in at the Skyrest Bridge Vestige and look for Molhu. Finding him will be a challenge, so go forward and turn right up the staircase that will take you into a dark room. You will hear the lamp humming as you move.
Step 2: Shift to the Umbral Realm and you’ll find Molhu in the center of the room.
Step 3: Speak to Molhu and select the option to upgrade your Umbral Lamp.
Step 4: Unspent Antediluvian Chisels can be used to further upgrade the lamp and even traded in for Soul Flay Charges.
Now that you know how to upgrade the Umbral Lamp in Lords of the Fallen, you will be able to gain an advantage over your enemies as you keep progressing through the game.
