The Symphony of Death is a landmark side quest in Destiny 2. Once completed, it offers a unique reward, i.e. Deathbringer Rocket Launcher. However, many conditions need to be fulfilled before you can undertake this complex and multi-chaptered quest.

This guide offers detailed information on completing the long and complicated Symphony of Death quest in Destiny 2.

Table of Contents

  1. How Can I Complete Symphony of Death in Destiny 2?
    1. Step One: Complete the Main Shadowkeep Story
    2. Step Two: Complete the Lunar Spelunker Bounty
    3. Step Three: Complete The Final Lost Sector
    4. Step Four: Collect Necklace Scraps
    5. Step Five: Complete Faculties Of The Skull
    6. Step Six: Collect The Silent Skull
    7. Step Seven: Collect Three Bones To Complete Marrow’s Elegy
    8. Step Eight: Defeat Sulmakta
    9. Step Nine: Complete The Of Darkest Harmony Stage
    10. Step Ten: Complete Choir Of The Damned Stage

How Can I Complete Symphony of Death in Destiny 2?

  1. First, you will need to purchase the Shadowkeep DLC pack before you can undertake this quest. Once you get the DLC, proceed to complete the main questline of this expansion.
  2. After you complete the main storyline, you can undertake the Symphony of Death side quest by initiating a dialog with Eris Morn, the main NPC who acts as your guide through the DLC.

Step One: Complete the Main Shadowkeep Story

  1. After you have completed all the main storyline objectives, talk to Eris Morn. You can find her in the Sanctuary.
  2. She will offer you the Memory of Sai Mota. Review the mission objectives, that dictate you must complete the Lunar Spelunker bounty to earn a Firewall Data Fragment as a reward.
  3. Talk to Eris again and accept the Lunar Spelunker bounty.

Step Two: Complete the Lunar Spelunker Bounty

  1. Complete the three Lost Sector objectives spread across the expansion’s map i.e. the Moon. These three sectors are K1 Communion, K1 Crew Quarters, and K1 Logistics.
  2. Each sector will have you battling some enemies and collecting loot after every sector is cleared.
  3. After you have completed all three, head back over to Eris and collect your reward i.e. Firewall Data Fragment.

Step Three: Complete The Final Lost Sector

  1. After you have collected the Firewall Data Fragment, it is time to tackle the fourth and final Lost Sector. This sector, dubbed K1 Revelation, is situated in Sorrow’s Harbor.
  2. Clear out the enemies you encounter in this sector and proceed to the very core (end) of the sector map.
  3. You will find an orange tunnel that will lead you to a locked door. Use the Firewall Data Fragment to open this door. Inside, you will find Sai Mota’s Broken Necklace.

Step Four: Collect Necklace Scraps

  1. Head back to the landing zone on Sorrow’s Harbour.
  2. Defeat all the Nightmares you will encounter there and collect all 20 pieces of Sai Mota’s Necklace Scraps. Use your Arc abilities to clear out the waves of Nightmares easily.

Note: While you can use a weapon of your choice to drain these Nightmares’ health bars, the final blow must come from an Arc weapon. Only then the Nightmare will drop a Necklace Scrap.

Step Five: Complete Faculties Of The Skull

  1. After collecting all the Necklace Scraps, head back to the Sanctuary and talk to Eris once again. She will point you towards a chest sitting in the room.
  2. Open the chest to begin the first stage of Symphony of Death, named Faculties of the Skull.
  3. You will be transported to Circle of Bones, where you will meet Toland the Shattered. He will tell you about the Silent Skull, an important resource that you must possess to complete the Symphony of Death.

Step Six: Collect The Silent Skull

  1. After talking to Toland, proceed to the next room, where you will have to battle and conquer three bosses: Devoted of Ir Yut, Nightmare Servant of Ir Yut, and Overload Minotaur.
  2. Kill all the bosses and regular enemies until the room is cleared. Once it is cleared, you will find the Silent Skull.
  3. You will need to take this skull back to Eris to begin the next stage in Symphony of Death. After you bring the skull back to Sanctuary, Eris will task you with collecting three bones. This is the next stage in this side quest, titled Marrow’s Elegy.

Step Seven: Collect Three Bones To Complete Marrow’s Elegy

You will need to complete three different tasks in three different locations. Completing each task will grant you one bone. These tasks include:

  1. Complete a public event in the Hellmouth area. Once you complete this public event, you will be rewarded with the first bone, named Festering Bone.
  2. Clear out the fourth Lost Sector, i.e. K1 Revelation once again. Once you clear out all the enemies, you will be rewarded with the Ritualistic Bone.
  3. Defeat the Wandering Bone Collector on the Moon. You can find this boss near the Anchor of Light sector. Once you land there, you can find him already wandering there, or you might have to wait for a few minutes and he will spawn near the Fallen Encampment. After you defeat him, you will be rewarded with the third and final bone, Bone Collector’s Marrow.

Step Eight: Defeat Sulmakta

  1. After you collect all three bones, head over to the Scarlet Keep. There’s a strike going on at the keep.
  2. Join the strike at this mysterious building. Use Arc and ranged weapons to clear hordes of regular enemies.
  3. Clear out enemies of the first floor and head on to the second floor.
  4. You will come across Sulmakta, the final boss of the Scarlet Keep Strike quest. Defeat this boss to proceed in your Symphony of Death quest.

Step Nine: Complete The Of Darkest Harmony Stage

After you complete Scarlet Keep Strike, you will be notified to undertake another quest called Of Darkest Harmony. Three objectives need to be met to complete this stage:

  1. Defeat regular enemies
  2. Defeat mini-bosses (enemies with red or yellow health bars)
  3. Defeat bosses or other guardians.

Step Ten: Complete Choir Of The Damned Stage

  1. After you have met all three objectives outlined in the Of Darkest Harmony stage, you can finally proceed to the very last stage the quest. The final stage is called Choir of the Damned.
  2. Head to the Circle of Bones to find Toland and Eris. Travel deep into the Circle of Bones, guided by Toland. Keep an eye out for sneaky enemies that will attack you from everywhere on this dark path.
  3. Keep progressing on the path and defeat three Arias that you will find blocking your path. They are named Ir Absuul, Ir Nagash, and Ir Sufra.
  4. After you defeat the third Aria, continue on the same path.
  5. When the path ends, a dialogue between you and Toland will be triggered. He will ask you to ‘silence’ the Deathsinger and manifest a bridge so you can enter the final boss room.
  6. As soon as you enter the room, Ir Airam the Deathsinger will start attacking you. Defeat her to complete your quest.
  7. Once she is defeated, you will be rewarded with the Deathsinger Skull.
  8. Take this skull back to Eris and she will fashion the coveted Deathbringer Rocket Launcher out of it.

Deathbringer is an exotic-level rocket launcher weapon. It is exclusive to Shadowkeep DLC and cannot be achieved unless you complete Symphony of Death in Destiny 2.
