Getting your hands on grub hides in Grounded 2 is one of those early-game steps that sounds simple but only if you know what to look for. You’ll need them for crafting essentials like the Canteen, and chances are, your Workbench to-do list isn’t getting any shorter.
The good news is that once you figure out where they’re hiding and how to dig them up, collecting grub hides becomes a solid part of your daily resource run. Keep your eyes to the floor so you can get some easy grub hides.
How to get Grub Hides in Grounded 2

Grubs live underground, and the way to get to them is by using the Omni-tool upgrade. Once that’s done, you’re set to start digging. Look for little tremors or squiggly moving dirt patches that’s your sign. It’s either a grub or a larva under there. You’re hoping for the grub, obviously.
When you spot one of those dirt trails, walk right up to it and press X with your shovel equipped. If a grub pops out, smack it down with a quick weapon (your bow works fine) and loot it fast.
If you’re still near the starting area, one of the best early grub zones is near the big Ceremony Pamphlet that huge leaflet sitting between the Snackbar Ranger Outpost and the Snackbar Anthill. You’ll usually see at least one or two dirt mounds every time you pass through.
Another solid spot? Just southwest of the Snackbar Outpost, near the drinks can. The open patch just below it tends to be full of wiggling dirt. Swing by whenever you’re short on hides (you’ll rarely come up empty).

What you get from Grubs
The main item you’re after is Grub Hide, but there’s a decent chance you’ll also pull out Grub Sludge and Arrows (weirdly enough, they drop too). Also, Grub trails are a lot harder to spot at night, even with a torch. So we recommend sticking to daylight runs if you’re trying to grind them fast.
Note: If you’re riding a Buggy, you’ll need to hop off before harvesting. Can’t dig from the driver’s seat.
All in all, if you’re trying to get your early crafting going, stocking up on Grub Hides in Grounded 2 is an easy win once you know what to look for. Just stay sharp for tremors, swing that shovel, and start building.
